On the hot june day i arrived Lorenza was sitting in her makeshift office in the double-wide mobile home that served as the clinic. Her government-issue metal desk was pushed against the wall next to a filing cabinet whose handles were loose and hanging down. She had a map of the colonias thumb tacked to the wall and a stack of appointments lined up on the seat of a folding chair.
