Howard Brody and Paul Jung fear that physicians are so weak and lacking in integrity that they would "sell their souls" for a pack of M&M candies and a few sandwiches and doughnuts. Thus, they want to ban all contact between drug industry sales representatives and physicians in hospitals and academic institutions. As a physician, I find it hard to imagine that any of my colleagues would compromise professional concern for their patients. Certainly the vast majority of physicians are able to resist this temptation and make decisions solely based on the best medical interests of their patients.
