Dolores used her purple robbins pathology textbook to weigh down the gas pedal to commit suicide in her garage. It was fourteen years ago, but I vividly remember the phone conversation with the resident on call, the bearer of the very bad news. Dolores had died of carbon monoxide poisoning, he told me. Her death came as a shock to her husband, mother, friends, colleagues, and patients. She was a compassionate, caring personshy but well liked by patients and staff.
