A MIDDLE-AGED, SPANISH-SPEAKING WOMAN has just been wheeled into the emergency room (ER) of a major hospital in metropolitan Boston. Her anxious twenty-one-year-old son is with her. He describes, in hurried Spanish, how his mother was injured in a machinery accident at a factory.
