As a Medicare counselor in the SHIP program, I know the importance of using the Medicare.gov web site to select the most cost-effective Rx drug plan for a senior to enroll in. The selection is based on each senior's specific drugs and dosages. Since there are more than 45 plans to select from in NJ, it is almost impossible to select the most cost-effective plan without this software.

Any future study of Medicare Part D progress should include an analysis of how many Part D enrollees took advantage of this plan selection tool to choose their plan.
