Re: Diversity in the Health Professions

Your excellent review of this issue supports our previous work related to the California Latino Physicians Shortage published in Academic Medicine in 2000.

Establishing a strong mentoring framework to support the assimilation and retention of minority health professional students is a necessary strategy to achieve sustainability and success of these future professionals.

Sharing the experience-based knowledge of mature health professionals with those just entering their health professional careers creates the missing knowledge transfer that will arm these students with the necessary skills to face the challenges of tomorrow's health care system.

Your contribution further supports the clear evidence that social injustices, inequality, lack of equity, and unfairness have no place in health care today and in the future.
